founding of Astoria Espressomaschinen

ASTORIA - A GROUP OF CRAFTSMEN IMPLEMENTED AN IDEA IN 1969

A group of craftsmen who started to implement an idea in 1969 developed into the largest single coffee machine factory in the world. Nello Dal Tio founded the Astoria CMA group and thus a historic brand of the Italian espresso machine tradition. Each member of the Astoria crew is united by common values. , just like a coffee machine, it always works in one direction, with each component working together perfectly.

History and Tradition of the Astoria Espresso Machine

ESPRESSO MACHINES BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY

In fifty years, we have handled many boilers, many heat exchangers and a very large quantity of coffee beans. With the same passion, energy and entrepreneurial spirit that a small group of visionaries had in 1969, we are now facing all the challenges that a constantly growing qualitative market such as that of coffee demands every day.

innovation

Great innovations come from not being afraid to do something different. From the first professional coffee machine in 1969 to today, the technological improvement is truly incredible. Astoria has an innovative research and development department that works every day with passion and methodology to always put the needs of the barista at the center.

Made in Italy

Astoria is part of a network of specialists

Astoria CMA was founded in the middle of the hills of Susegana, a small town in the province of Treviso, and has been able to grow steadily here. Today, Astoria is part of a network of specialists located in the immediate vicinity. Most of the Astoria portafilter models are manufactured right here, in the CMA factory, which was expanded both spatially and in terms of production technology in 2007.

sustainability

Environmental protection is a top priority for Astoria portafilter machines. In order to keep operating costs low and thus use less energy, Astoria has developed the energy-saving Green Line models . With modern electronics, over 30% less energy is used in the long term when operating the coffee machines. In production, waste separation and the high reuse of resources are a priority. In addition, the machines are designed for a long service life and are extremely easy to repair.

Kaffeekultur by Astoria Espresso

People who open themselves to the world of coffee work with a completely different drive. It is therefore important for anyone who works with coffee to really know the path that a coffee bean takes from maturity to the preparation of a richly aromatic drink. In this sense, the partnership with the National Institute of Italian Espresso and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo plays a fundamental role in training employees and final customers.

The mission - Astoria espresso machines "Made in Italy"

THE PASSION FOR ESPRESSO MACHINES IS SO STRONG THAT EVEN GEOGRAPHICAL BORDERS CANNOT STOP US

"Most innovative technologies Made in Italy" is our mission for the production of Astoria commercial coffee machines. Machines equipped with the best technology, putting top quality, environmental protection and users and end customers first. Simply the best technology for a perfect espresso.

The acquisition of Ryoma MC in 2012 enabled significant investments to be made for a significant technological change, particularly with regard to the production facilities, which were redesigned and structured according to the principles of Lean Manufacturing, marking the path that Astoria has taken from a small artisanal business to a globally recognized company.

The beginning of a multi-year collaboration: Adriano Design designs Sibilla

In 1999, Astoria presented the Sibilla coffee machine at the Milano Fair. A unique and revolutionary product that marked the beginning of a new era for the company and the coffee machine market. The innovative Sibilla also marked the beginning of a partnership between the award-winning Adriano Design Studio from Turin, which has established itself on the international design scene, and Astoria. Sibilla is the result of research that Adriano Design began in 1998 into coffee machines, their construction, their design and, above all, their semantic meaning, in which the coffee plays a central role.

In the 1980s - a time without high-quality design - the coffee machine took on an anonymous, marginal, purely functional role in the architecture of the café. The Sibilla thus marks a boundary, a break between the old school of "monoblock" machines of the 1980s and a new generation of lightweight coffee machines for the counter area, which creates a new relationship between the barista and the customer. With the Sibilla, Astoria was the very first company to venture into a completely new machine concept, which in the years to come formed the architectural basis for a fresh philosophy of Astoria coffee machines in the specialty coffee sector. This has had a lasting influence on our modern coffee culture - at a time when no one recognized the qualitative approaches to this!
