Astoria Pilot vs. Astoria Strom - What is the difference between the two coffee machines

Even though the "Astoria Pilot" and the "Astoria Storm" come from the same Barista Attitude series , the two high-quality designer coffee machines differ significantly in various aspects. Nevertheless, the portafilter machines each offer their own advantages.

Both are characterized by their user-friendly operation and compact design. With their Italian design, the Astoria Design portafilters draw attention to the center of the gastronomic scene. The design of the Storm is both modern and functional, which makes it an eye-catcher in any environment.

While the Astoria Pilot is aimed at smaller cafes or restaurants that are looking for high quality coffee preparation, but the number of cups served during the day does not have to be designed to withstand intensive continuous use, the Pilot offers excellent temperature stability thanks to its separately heated portafilter, which is significantly better than classic single boiler systems . It enables precise dosing, which leads to consistent results. It is also equipped with the latest technology, which enables easy programming of coffee specialties, all at an attractive price.

In contrast, the Astoria Storm with its multi-boiler system is aimed at professional baristas and larger coffee shops that need high performance during periods of high customer volume. The Storm has a robust construction and is designed for intensive, continuous use. It offers advanced features such as individual pressure control and improved heat distribution, which enables even more precise extraction.

Conclusion - Who is the Astoria Pilot coffee machine suitable for

With its Italian design, the Astoria Pilot draws attention to the center of the gastronomic scene. Based on the Astoria Storm, it offers a powerful coffee machine for restaurateurs where a multi-boiler system is not yet required. The portafilter maintains temperature stability thanks to the heating system built into the brewing groups. The Astoria Pilot portafilter machine is already extensively equipped ex works and is designed in such a way that the machine makes the barista's job easier. A large work area with LED lighting and displays on each group simplify and speed up the easy use of the machine.

Astoria uses the following abbreviations in its model series to more precisely specify the device type:

  • AL - Stands for portafilter version with lever. The pressure in the brewing group is regulated by manually controlling the lever.
  • AEP - Refers to Astoria semi-automatic machines, i.e. espresso is dispensed after pressing a start/stop button.
  • SAE - Refers to an Electronic Astoria System with multiple dispensing buttons for specific, defined cup sizes.
  • SAEP - Refers to an Electronic Astoria System with multiple dispensing buttons for specific, defined cup sizes and an additional manual dispensing button
  • SAE TS - Describes an electronic Astoria system with several dispensing buttons for specific, defined cup sizes. The additional touch screen provides additional functions and information.
