The Eureka Mignon Specialita 16CR
Specialita has the proven technology of the Mignon MCI, but is quieter
Even at first glance, the Mignon differs from most other devices of this type. The entry-level grinder impresses with its well-thought-out design with compact dimensions and a solid base. With its angular shape, the manufacturer Eureka has created a real eye-catcher with an appealing look for the ambitious home barista. This third version of the Eureka Mignon is now called Specialità. At first glance, the only difference between the Specialitá and the Perfetto is the adjustable "hands-free support" for holding the portafilter. This now enables professional work without "holding" the portafilter during the grinding process.
What are the new features of the New Mignon Specialita
- Quieter housing
- Timer can be controlled mechanically or via the digital touch display
- Touch screen for individual programming of two dosages + Manual continuous operation
- grinding level continuously adjustable
- Faster grinding performance per second: 1.4g to 1.8g (espresso) or 1.9g to 2.5g (filter coffee)
- disc grinder with steel discs
- Larger 55mm high-performance grinding discs
- Larger bean container up to 300g
Technical characteristics of the Eureka Mignon
The espresso grinder is solidly made. The large diameter of the grinding disc and the low speed of the motor ensure low grinding temperatures and prevent the escape of aromatic coffee oils. The correct grinding level is set sensitively and conveniently using an adjustment wheel (top left). This allows the patented 4-point suspension of the grinder to fully demonstrate its strengths.
The timer can be set mechanically or via the digital touch display. Once the timer has been set, the grinder always dispenses the same amount of coffee at the touch of a button. You can also switch the stepless 55mm steel grinder to manual operation. The touch screen can be used to individually program two doses + manual continuous operation, then the coffee is dispensed in a consistent amount and quality.
The perfect grind for espresso preparation
If you ask experienced baristas about the perfect espresso preparation, the first thing that comes to mind is not only the quality of the coffee beans but also the degree of grinding of the raw material. The more homogeneously the coffee grounds are ground, the more evenly the hot water in the coffee machine will flow around the grounds under pressure and the more evenly the desired aromas will be extracted. A good coffee grinder is therefore always the first step to perfect enjoyment.
Nice to Know
With disc grinders, the beans are ground between two concave grinding discs that are placed on top of each other. One of the two discs is driven by a motor and the other disc is fixed. The distance between the two discs is slightly larger on the inside than on the outside. The bean passes between the discs from the inside, is broken up here and then transported further outwards by centrifugal force. Since the grinding discs are closer together on the outside, the bean is ground ever finer. To adjust the degree of grinding, the distance between the discs is changed.
Conclusion for whom is the Mignon Silenzio coffee grinder suitable
The Eureka Specialita 16CR is the entry-level grinder designed for the discerning espresso connoisseur at home and offers a great price/performance ratio. It impresses with its quiet operating noise. In contrast to comparable espresso grinders from Eureka, it has a 55mm grinding disc, which has a positive effect on the grinding speed and heat development. The grinding level and grain size are continuously adjustable so that the optimal coffee grounds for an espresso are achieved. Thanks to its excellent performance, solid workmanship and long service life, this model is worth its price.
